macOS needs no special handling. Copy the post URL, paste it here, click a resolution, and the file appears in Downloads ready for QuickTime, Photos or an editor.
The files are MP4 with H.264 and AAC — exactly what Apple's own tools are happiest with, so nothing transcodes on import.

To get a clip into Photos, drag it onto the Photos icon or use File, Import. Anything added to Photos on a Mac syncs to your other devices through iCloud if you have that turned on.
Identical on both. H.264 decoding is hardware-accelerated on every Mac Apple has shipped in a long time, so even large 1080p files scrub smoothly in QuickTime.
